Description
This book tells the story of how practical shooting became a major shooting sport in Norway. Norway was involved in the development right from the start, and Norwegian shooters have asserted themselves both at the top of the world and in Europe.
The sport has many elements that are not found in other shooting sports. Power, precision and speed are the motto of the sport. It makes this sport the Formula 1 of shooting sports.
The author, Folke Myrvang, has been involved in this sport for many years. We follow the story all the way back to a practical shooting exercise in the World Shooting Championship in 1932 and to shooting training with small arms during the war. Then it was American shooters who picked up the thread and put it all into a system. Norwegian shooters were early adopters with competitions and clubs.
The book is written in Norwegian, with 432 pages and around 650 photos and illustrations. Norwegian shooters are followed all the way from the start of the Combat Shooting League in 1974 with a handful of enthusiasts to today's shooting federation Dynamic Sports Shooting Norway (DSSN). A complete overview of all Norwegian podium finishes in the sport from nationals to worldchamiponships is also included.
This book thoroughly documents the sport as it has evolved in Norway and should be enjoyed by anyone interested in shooting and shooting sports!
