Description
The Raid Shirt from Helikon-Tex is a new version of a classic. The shirt is included as a set together with UTP, SFU Mk2 or BDU Mk2 trousers, but it works just as well as a stand-alone, lightweight shirt.
This type of tactical clothing has a long tradition stretching back to the 1940s. With the Raid shirt, Helikon-Tex has succeeded in developing this traditional shirt into a timeless and modern garment that meets the demands of today's operators and enthusiasts alike.
The Raid shirt is made from a modern Polycotton Stretch Ripstop material (48% cotton, 50% polyester, 2% elastane), giving the shirt some elasticity and greater freedom of movement.
Raglan construction - unique in tactical clothing
The uniform shirt should function as the wearer's "second skin", and should therefore generally not introduce artificial transitions in the construction. The Raid shirt has a natural raglan construction, which in short means that the sleeves go all the way up to and are sewn directly into the collar. There are therefore no seams on the shoulders.
The raglan construction is unusual for tactical clothing and gives the wearer increased freedom of movement and comfort. This is particularly noticeable if the wearer is wearing a vest/plate carrier, chest-rigs with straps or backpacks with shoulder straps since the straps do not pinch against seams.
This type of cut is almost non-existent in the uniform industry, but is used in the latest American IHWCU uniform (Improved Hot Weather Combat Uniform) which also has a raglan construction.
Classic pockets, with improvements!
The Raid shirt has a total of 8 pockets with loops that you can attach equipment to. Two classic pockets, sewn at an angle on the chest, fastened with Canadian buttons. Two mesh pockets on the inside of the shirt: one with a zipper and one open at chest height, for maps or a notebook.
In addition, there are two slanted pockets on the shoulders, with two fastening options. The comfortable fastening with two small Velcro fasteners can be covered when needed and Canadian buttons can be used. The zippered shoulder pockets also have two open, smaller pockets for small items such as a compass. Next to it is a narrow compartment for a pen or pencil.
